CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Making younger generation future-ready

At Velotio, we firmly believe that young people are crucial for the bright future and growth of society. Given the right tools and opportunities, they are capable of incredible things. That’s why we continuously strive to support them in all areas related to well-being, education and training.

In an attempt to aid our efforts of supporting meaningful causes, we have collaborated with esteemed organisations. We are launching a series of initiatives that will positively impact the community.

Swadhar - Girls’ education sponsorship program

This program helps sponsor the education of girls from grades 8-10th and sponsors those attending vocational training courses like ITI, Diploma in engineering, D.Ed., Nurse Assistant, etc. These girls hail from the underprivileged section and tend to drop out of institutes the most, as they are not financially independent.

Akshaya Patra

Through this program, Akshaya Patra provides freshly cooked meals to underprivileged children in government schools. The aim of this program is to address malnutrition in children, and increase enrollment & attendance in school.

FUEL

FUEL supports girl students and youth from disadvantaged families and trains them in future skills so as to give them a platform to become independent. FUEL’s ‘FFSI Future Skills Scholarship Program aims to provide 360-degree career support with a close monitoring mechanism and peer-to-peer learning.

Swadhar

To support this program, we scheduled a visit to Raosaheb Patwardhan School on Dandekar bridge on Friday, 7th Oct 2022, at 4:00 pm. A group of our HR and admin team visited SWADHAR IDWC - an NGO that helps underprivileged women, irrespective of their caste, creed, or religion.

Velotio has been sponsoring girls' education from 8th to 10th grade & also aiding their vocational training courses like ITI, Diploma in engineering, D.Ed., Nurse Assistant, etc. But we didn’t want to limit ourselves to providing only monetary support. Beyond the sponsorships, our team also contributed at a personal level, where they interacted with the kids.

To support this initiative, Velotio partnered with Muskaan Foundation and arranged a "Self-Protection and Child Rights" session for kids at Raosaheb Patwardhan School, Dandekar Bridge, Pune. This session was organized for kids, especially teenagers, who lack awareness about self-protection.

Our team spoke to the kids at length after the session to ensure they understood how to protect themselves from child abuse. Kids shared their feedback and experiences with us; based on that, we decided to plan the subsequent sessions.

FUEL

Recently, Velotio partnered with FUEL for an empowerment programme to support and train youth for future skills. We organised the first online knowledge-sharing session on December 8 & 9, 2022  as a part of our CSR activity for FUEL. Through this initiative, we plan to continue to offer skill development programmes and training to empower the youth of India.

The total number of students who attended this online session at the Pune campus was 50. Students from other cities also joined the online links.

90% of students who attended the session were final-year Engineering students. These were the topics for the first set of introductory sessions, which were conducted by Velotio experts:

  • What is cloud and getting started with AWS - Mukta Aphale
  • Introduction to building user interfaces for digital products using Javascript and React - Harshil Shah

Through the initiative, students got a chance to interact and learn from industry experts. This allowed the students to gain industry exposure and practical experience.

I have been looking for ways to give back and support young lives. I am glad that these great initiatives will give these kids a chance at a better tomorrow.
